- Brian “Duke” Kelley Man of the Year:
Duke was one of us, a member of the F3 Florence PAX that left us last year, much too soon. He was a loving husband to his wife, a high impact man in his work and in our community, and a beloved friend to many. This award is given in his memory to honor another HIM.
This year’s winner: Robert “Spirit Fingers” LeMaster
Spirit Fingers is an active member of his church, Sandhurst, where he regularly contributes to the worship music with guitar, vocals, and working the soundboard. In the community, Spirit Fingers coaches Little League baseball at Maple Park. Being an ardent supporter of our public school system, and a product of it, he recently ran a difficult campaign against an incumbent on the school board. While not victorious this time, SF did well and continues to make a difference with his involvement. SF has served on many boards in Florence, currently with The School Foundation. In F3 Florence, he is a Rumble faithful and our Quality Control Q.
Spirit Fingers exemplifies F3. He is a High Impact Man, a HIM. He is dedicated to forcible contact to strong effect. He is a Disrupter, that Somebody who makes things happen. He is a natural born world-beater…an enemy of the status quo, despised by Goo Nation for the threat he poses to its continued existence. Spirit Fingers is more than deserving of this award. F3 Florence is proud to have this man in our PAX, and I am proud to call him my brother and my friend….Aye!

Due to time constraints, YHC was unable to deliver a few closing remarks. So, you get to read them in written form.
This has been a great year for F3 Florence! The 1st F, Fitness, is our magnet. We have attracted some excellent FNGs this year. However, we need to encourage their continued participation after that initial beatdown, and we should strive to keep EHing new PAX. Since last year, we launched another AO, Rumble. It has been successful, not only as a Monday/Saturday Bootcamp AO, but also a great alternative Run AO on Tuesdays. 2nd F, Fellowship, is our glue. Life gets hard for everyone. The depth of our male friendships will make the difference. Those sticky friends are what the Sadclown lacks and what we all need. Through coffeeteria, CSAUPs, movie nights, lunches, and dinners, we have strengthened our bonds with one another. 3rd F, Faith, is our dynamite. After the first two F’s are achieved, we naturally seek to fulfill our desire to serve. The Faith component of F3 is simply a belief in something outside of oneself. This year, many Opportunities presented themselves and PAX stepped up to serve in our community.
Where is F3 Florence heading? The 1st F will continue. Quality Control Qs will ensure that everyone gets their fair share of downPAINment. We are looking at new 2nd F opportunities. Stay tuned! Many have discussed with me the desire to serve our community more. I love that idea, and plan on expanding it. One exciting development is attempting to incorporate F3QSource in our schedule. Since part of the F3 Mission is to “invigorate male community leadership”, this is an excellent way to do so, by learning the F3 leadership development philosophy. Much more to come!
Brothers, this is my fourth Christmas Party since joining F3, and it just keeps getting better. A big thank you goes to those that helped make it possible: Knobby for planning, Ginger for his gracious hospitality, Squatter for his excellent PowerPoint and award presentation, Nurse Jackie for his assistance from afar, all of the PAX that helped with set-up, cooking, and supplies (Ginger, Monkey, Spirit Fingers, Knobby, Dipstick, Mr. Rogers, Dunkin’, Flanders, Speedwalker, and anyone else I missed), and in true typical F3 fashion, all of the others that jumped in to help out upon arrival. It was great to fellowship with the brothers YHC sees on a regular basis, and to catch up with those that have been absent for a while. It was especially nice to be able to fellowship again with our brother Uhaul. He is doing amazing things in Waycross!. A new breed of F3 brothers (and ruckers) are being born! As we head into the New Year, let’s continue to lean upon each other as we become better men, better fathers, better husbands, better friends, and better brothers. Iron Sharpens Iron. Let’s continue to hold each other accountability and sharpen one another in the days and years to come.
