Wall Ball Fun

Rules:

– If the ball misses the wall, 15 Burpees

– If the ball is not picked up by anyone, 5 Burpees

– If a person fumbles the ball and the ball hits the wall before they touch it, the PAX that threw the ball gets to call out an exercise that all PAX except the one that threw the ball do 3 reps of per PAX that needed to touch the wall and did not

– PAX must stay off the grass when the ball is in one of the PAX’s hands and no one is running to the wall to avoid getting out

– If the ball rolls out of the back of the court 3 times in a row, all PAX take a lap around Hoppa’s Yard

– If things are too tame, the end of the court will now be considered to be half of the court (as Q I decide this)

Good morning. After reading the summary of the workout, you may be asking “Web, what does this have to do with a six pack?” Now that would be in reference to the earlier title with the image of the PAX from this morning: “6 PAX came out for a six pack:” My response is that it doesn’t. It was just a catchy rhythmic caption. Just like with wall-ball, I am the captian of this ship now and you just have to ride it out. Well, now onto what we did this morning…

We had a grand ol’ time this morning. I pulled up at 6 https://i.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/newsfeed/001/882/382/e8b.jpg (the joke is on me because there were three just lying around Scrooge). So instead of enjoying a 6:30 minute mile with Big Worm and Big Hurt, I got to lollygag and only do some of the murph. Bionic joined as well. We got to discuss the music choice a little during the murph, but I am still not sure what the context was for the artist that said they were going to stalk a lady (my phraseology). But Big Hurt enjoyed the music and soon swapped to screaming to communicate the gospel. Your guess is as good as mine as to how that gets the gospel across. But hey, if it works, it works. So Big Hurt and Big Worm finished the murph and Bionic and I made sure they had a much better time on that second mile since we got to discuss cars and several of the new wacky things like heated seat subscriptions (see https://www.theverge.com/2023/9/7/23863258/bmw-cancel-heated-seat-subscription-microtransaction) and headlights having to come from the manufacturer for the car to work/get updates (see https://carnewschina.com/2024/08/08/xiaomi-su7-cannot-do-ota-due-to-changed-lights-and-owners-worry-about-flooding-their-frunk/). Once that was done, I learned something new and important…

All was well with the world and Samwise had just pulled up and started talking with us. I realized my phone was still in my car. So I said “I am going to grab my winkie” as I started walking off. Well, little did I know that you don’t say you are going to grab your winkie in front of friends, or ever really… Big Hurt quickly tried to salvage my statement as I walked off. Boy was that something. But I somehow did not scare off Samwise after that. So I will count it as a win (thanks Big Hurt).

Now onto the workout. So we started out with an exercise, mosey, and then exercise. It was going pretty well. We were doing 17 reps since today was the 17th. But Big Hurt and a couple of others were getting ready to mutiny in their minds after we did the 17 Merkins in cadence. It sounded like they were not up for 17 Pull Ups in cadence which they thought I might call. Well, it is not that I didn’t think I could do it, but given the pre-murph and the fact that I am not suicidal, I did not have that in store. So we got off safe for the time being. But since it sounded like they wanted to do something harder, I gave an option after we finished the warmup: pass go or go to jail. Well, pass go was continue as is and go to jail was the new playground. Well, without know what each option meant, they chose go to jail. I really did not want to do 17 pull ups, so I again let democracy reign and let the PAX decide: 1 or 2. 1 was 17 pull ups and 2 was 17 burpees. They chose 2. So we did Burpees. Thus we continued on. Since we were in jail, we needed to escape to the regular workout. So we did a jailbreak. After that we made it through 7 10s with 1 exercise set per corner. After that we did Wallball.

Wallball was pretty fun. Big Worm learned it for the first time and we got to learn ball control and to not let the ball out the back. We did a lot of Burpees… So much so that I had to audible the penalty for the ball going out the back from 5 Burpees to 5 Squats. I made sure the court was shrinking somewhat frequently, so I am sure I am to blame for why the ball went out the back so much. I think Big Hurt got the most people out during the game. And Bionic gets the cone of shame… We were at the last 2 minutes of wallball. We are all lining up to finish out the game and Bionic tosses the ball high at the wall. Well, we were standing at the line marked 1, so we were only 2 or 3 feet from the wall. Normally throwing the ball high would not be a problem. Normally… But we were so close that the ball never had time to come back down before it went over the wall. You could see the panic set in on everyone’s faces as we all realized that we now had to do 15 Burpees. We finished out the game not too long after that. Then we got to relax on the soft surface and gravity stretch a little.

All in all, today had its ups and downs during the workout. I hope everyone enjoyed (and Samwise comes back). Thank you for letting me lead and God bless you all!
