The Thang:
Prayer.
God wants us to come to him in prayer.
Jesus modeled that:
Luke 11:1-13
Matthew 6:5-15
God is our father. He wants good things for us. The Holy Spirit will help us pray as the Lord knows our heart.
Romans 8:15-17
Romans 8:26-27
When in doubt, pray the Lord’s Prayer. Think of each word as you say them. Ask the Lord to speak to you.
Quantity will bring quality: The more time we spend in prayer the more we will learn to identify the Lord’s voice.
Moleskin:
As a few churches in town have entered in a season of prayer, I wanted us to talk about prayer.
I grew up Catholic. For me prayer was something you recited, not a conversation with God.
As I got older and grew a personal relationship with God, I learned the power of prayer. The power not to “get things,” but the power to be in the presence of the Lord.
This morning we had a great discussion about coming to the Lord to spend time with Him, not just for a transaction, but to just spend time with Him. We said “be bored with the Lord.”
The “quantity brings quality” nugget was from Bishop. Frodo added Romans 8:26-27 to our reading and it was perfect.
Let’s make it a habit to pray. If you need to, schedule it, block your time. If you don’t know what to Pray, remember that the Lord already knows your heart and mind. Just talk to him. Pray the Lord’s Prayer found on Matthew 6:5-15.
Wee-Man, did you read this far? Text me “The Lord’s Prayer.”
