Don’t trade what’s unique to you for something someone else will do.”
– Ephesians 5:21, 25
– Matthew 6:33
– Proverbs 3:5–6
You only have 1 or 2 truly unique roles in life: husband to your wife, father to your children. Everything else—someone else can and eventually will do.
When we offload our God-given responsibilities to our spouse or children, we hand them a burden they weren’t designed to carry. Eventually, that “rock” gets dropped.
Before we can rightly lead our families or steward our work, we must first submit our lives to God through daily time in His Word, prayer, and worship.
Questions:
1. Where do you feel the most tension between work and family?
2. Who might be carrying a burden right now that God designed you to carry?
3. What fear is keeping you from choosing to “cheat” your work?
4. What would trusting God practically look like this week?
