THE THANG:

Having a passion for Jesus

What’s your favorite movie, book, song, or even person? When we speak of such things we come alive or glow or get excited because we genuinely care about these things! Imagine if we had that same excitement and enthusiasm for Jesus!?!

1) how would you describe passion?

– Strong feeling – intense – or enthusiasm or even excitement (possibly driving someone to pursue or strive after someone or something!

The Hebrew word for passion means “to cleave” – as matters of the heart are involved

2 Corinthians 5:17-21 – a new creation & the Great Exchange – Jesus took on the sin of the world and in return we received the gift of God’s righteousness.

Philippians 1:1-20 – Paul talks of his love for that church as partakers in the sharing of the gospel

He ascribes to his pursuit and call to action for the “Cause for Christ”! Living by the Holy Spirit and no matter those around him trying to cause strife or envy or distress, Paul would rejoice because the great name of Jesus Christ as being proclaimed!!

His prison ministry had him attached to royal guards who got to listen to his message of Jesus for all who came to visit Paul while he was on house arrest. Those guards would then travel back to the palace and God’s work was continued!!

Luke 10:38-42 – Mary & Martha

– Martha moved around busy but also worried & bothered – fussing about Mary not helping; however Jesus reminded Martha that Mary who was listening at the feet of Jesus, had chosen the good part – intimacy with Jesus!! Priorities!

2) How can we practively & actively pursue Jesus?

We reviewed “The Wheel” which supports our actions and mindsets in living with a passion for Jesus

Like a wheel – Jesus is at the center with actions in obedience around the hub and the 4 spokes connecting are prayer, witnessing, fellowship and The Word!! (Pic to follow BB)

Fellowship

Witnessing
