What does it mean to be Christian-ish? It’s having a 1/2 hearted faith, wearing the label of Christianity without truly following Jesus.
Early in the book of Revelation Jesus gave custom messages to 7 different churches one of the churches was the church of Laodicea.
Revelations Ch. 3 15-20
Jesus talks about neither being hot nor cold but being lukewarm. Laodicea thought they had everything and needed nothing. Jesus brought some spiritual intensity when he spoke to the Laodicean’s. He called them Luke warm. Jesus wasn’t just talking about there spiritual passion. He was also talking about there spiritual purpose. They were not full filling their spiritual purpose. We are all given spiritual gifts from God. We have to utilize them. We should be using our spiritual purpose to create a spiritual impact. If you aren’t Jesus might say you are Luke warm.
God can’t stomach comfortable Christianity. He said “I will vommit you out”. It’s not just undesirable to God it’s intolerable.
We live in a rich culture. Meaning we think we have it all and don’t need God. We say “I do good things, I’m a good person, I don’t need God”. Until you do.
A Luke warm Christian-ish faith is perhaps the ultimate deception. Enough of Jesus to sooth your concouis but not enough to make you born again.
5 signs to suggest you may be Luke warm
– you crave acceptance from people more than the acceptance of God.
– If you rationalize sin
– Rarely share your faith in Christ
– You only turn to God when you need something. Just a tool in your toolbox.
– If you’re not much different from this world. ( 1 John 2:15)
When Jesus called the Laodiceans lukewarm he wasn’t trying to shame them or make them feel guilty. He was loving them.
Be diligent and turn from your indifference.
