PAX: Mr Rogers, Web, Boucher, Schnitzel, Dipstick
FNGs: None
COUNT: 5
CONDITIONS: the lights were dimmer and just like before the conditions were worth venturing out to discover God’s word more!
WARMUP: we reviewed a picture of masks and discussed what stood out to us…a diverse group of masks, some combined some smiling, laughing, crying.
We discussed how each day as men we wake and at our bedside table is a choice…we can choose to pick up 1) our mask or 2) our cross!
As we looked closer at the masks, each had on it a price tag! The cost of sin is too great to wear the mask. We spoke about carnivale in South America, they wear masks to hide their identity while they live anyway they wish and more often than not…in sin!
Foolish Trades!!
THE THANG: the topic was “foolish trades” and being fearless for God versus pursuing the typical things that are not good for us and can lay waste to our lives and the plan God has in store for us!
We discussed men in scripture who made foolish trades:
1) Esau – birth right for soup – foolish trade
2) David – one of his commanders and his obedience to God for Bathsheba, a married woman – giving into fleshly desires – foolish trade
3) Judas – Jesus for money – foolish trade
4) Peter – denied Jesus with disbelief – foolish trade
5 Abraham – patience and waiting on God’s timing only to sleep with a woman who wasn’t his wife – foolish trades
The list goes on! Like Chasing After the Wind!
We read Ecclesiastes 1:14, 3:1, 3:11, 4:6, 12:13-14
Vanity and the true reason for Ecclesiastes is to “fear God and keep his commandments for God will bring every act to judgement whether hidden or seen, whether good or evil” it all belongs to Him anyways!
We 2 Corinthians 4:16-18 – reminding us “not to lose heart, but though our outer man decays, God is renewing us inside day by day”…that’s good news!
Let’s realize was is seen is temporary and what is not is eternal and of much greater value!
We then wrapped up with 2 Timothy 4:7 – the passage we all want to hear -“my good and faithful servant, you have fought the good fight, you have kept the faith, you have finished the race”!
I have been ready liturgy’s for different situations everyday and I ran across one for “Battling a Destructive Desire”. I will share picks to reflect on outside of the backblast for insight.
Let’s spur each other on towards love and good deeds and let’s not give up on the pattern of meeting together and all the more as you see THE DAY approaching” – Hebrews 10:24-25
Hope this encourages you like it did me!
PRAYER REQUEST:
