THE THANG:

We discussed what it looks like to do good.

We discussed the world’s standard for common decency – “behavior that conforms to “acceptable standards” of morality and respectability” – realizing that those visions of standards can be skewed by the world’s measuring stick and our call to be transformed by the renewing of our minds in Jesus and our relationship with God should be the focus!

We read Philippians 2:1-18 to review Jesus model of good and then traveled into 1 Peter 2:4-12 which calls us to be supernaturally distinct aliens whose citizenship is in heaven! A “dual kept” people who have temporary citizenship on earth but ultimately and firstly in heaven. These passages emphasized our  drive and desire to do good to ALL people for the sake of Jesus! We discussed why we should do good and encouraged each other not to be discouraged when others may try to Thwart our efforts!

Lastly, we were reminded that God is good even when we are not and though we don’t deserve it, he still pours His grace and is that what others experience in us when they bump into us? Which do they get? The nature or attributes of God He pours out on  us or our worldly nature of response and challenges! Reading 1 Thessalonians 3:1-16

“Hard is not bad, it’s just hard!!! God often uses the hard to shape and grow us! What will our measure of good be and what will we pour out on those we engage with today? Our Children? Our Spouses? Our Friends or even strangers! Let’s let it be Grace and Truth and Good!! Let’s go get it!!
